SEO Ranting on the subject

Over the past month or so  I have been searching for ways and techniques to increase traffic to my site. This included checking out already well known blogs such as ProBlogger but after reading those crazy e-books all the way to going to my local borders and reading books on SEO , taking advantage of Google etc etc.

What surprises me the most is that every time I read a new source claiming to be the cure-all to increasing traffic is that all they do is reiterate and recycle old ideas or useless ones that a majority of web developers either already know or consider it to be common sense.

Wordpress 2.7

It’s not done yet but the release is coming fast & harder than any versions prior to 2.7 at least from what I have heard. Regarding my view on the recent acquisitions made by WordPress parent company Automattic , I beleive this is great move by them. Intense Debate will be implemented soon making the comment system more interactive and inviting to your readers will create a stronger community for your blog / website becomes. Not to forget about the other acquisition recently made for PollDaddy. (more…)

Personally I believe that in most cases a Magazine styled WordPress template is the ideal type of template because it can be adapted into use for various projects ranging from professional newspapers & magazines to blogs specializing in a certain topic for technology and cellphones for example. PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a hyperlink from “Page A” pointing to “Page B” as a vote,. I’m glad everyone enjoyed my first article on how to be intuitive with your wordpress. Many people say that it’s crappy or not as powerful as joomla/drupal, I disagree with them because I know with a little bit of elbow grease and plugin power it’s a full blown cms. Anyway I digress from my point.

I’ve seen a few trends on some fancy shmancy blogs about how to make money but the one thing they never do is really get down and dirty into giving you real details not just the regular , oh put up good content and people will come like crazy. Or other stories like I just opened my website and got 500k hits in 6 hours , a few words for you my friend S-T-F-U & stop fraudin’.

Forget the money aspect of running a website for a second , just trying to market your website to the entire internet is hard word as well as getting loyal readers to come back and give you positive feedback.

In this rant I’m gonna explain how to setup your blog to earn you money.

Well known anti-spammer tool that is basically cross-compatible with almost 99.9% plugins out there for wordpress from comments to submissions of articles etc.

Pros : Works dam well , Updates like almost every week becoming stronger

Cons : Sometimes is over-aggressive from time to time and may flag one of your viewer’s comments if they post a long or strange URL link

DropCap First Charachter

This is a very neat plugin I found while surfing the web , Basically it takes the first letter in your article and makes it bigger by 5-folds ala magazine style.

Pros : Works automatically , No configuration needed just install and activate

Cons : Configuration may need some manual editing of the css style sheets to get to perfection
