“In the U.S., the day after Thanksgiving is traditionally called Black Friday, symbolizing the beginning of the period where retailers would no longer have losses (the red) and instead take in the year’s profits (the black). On this day, most retail stores start the shopping season off by offering the best deals of the year, often marking down prices to extreme lows.”
It is the one day of the year after Thanksgiving where retail stores have mega deals , door busters galore. It is on these days that you can purchase a laptop for $150 or a 40″ LCD TV for $400-475. The catch though is that you have to in most cases wait in line for times of 6-20 hours out in the cold. The top retailers to go to for these types of door busters are Circuit City , Best Buy , Walmart & Target. Other Retailers also participate in their own Black Friday Sales including K-Mart , Sears , Toys’R'us, Costco , BJ’s.

Certain companies though are getting wise and don’t appreciate the leaked information, As a majority of the mainstream BF sites have received a cease and desist order from Walmart claiming that releasing information of future sales & pricing is illegal. I think its idiotic on the part of Walmart as it is only positive publicity for their company. If it was my website I would cease to cover Walmart at all and counter them by advertising their competition such as Target more. Then again that’s the way I deal with vendettas.
