Web Design Resources & Tutorials to help you design the best website!

This topic to you or me can either be the funnest or scariest damn thing in the world. I’m talking about web designing , personally I think that after you’ve decided which server you want to use & the CMS of your choice usually the last part involves picking / creating / buying a layout with the right scheme of colors. Fortunately for me I have friends who tell me things like Blue doesn’t go with Orange or baggy elephant pants are seriously out of style. But I digress, the point I am trying to make is that each and every single color has a meaning behind it as you may have probably heard in the past.
There should be a few things that you should keep in mind !
- Who is my target audience for my website ? If it’s old people then you may want to stick with a simple design that has a color scheme which is easy going on the eyes. VS if your main target audience is more geared towards teenagers

Every color has a hidden meaning that has an effect on how your readers will perceive your website. Every single one of your viewers will visit your website and will be put into a trance at the display of colors you have painted your site or will in less than a split of a second reject your website subconsciously based on it’s color. So it is very important to use colors to your advantage.
Red - Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.
Light red represents joy, sexuality, passion, sensitivity, and love.
Dark red is associated with vigor, willpower, rage, anger, leadership, courage, longing, malice, and wrath.
Blue - Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. In a survey test , it was shown that
Light blue is associated with health, healing, tranquility, understanding, and softness.
Dark blue represents knowledge, power, integrity, and seriousness.
White - White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the color of perfection. This color is truly underestimated as it is the most simple and cleanest colors used in most layouts today.

Some of you may find these facts interesting that I pulled up from this very detailed report from this site.
Other Websites to help you achieve the right combination of colors to make your website appealing to the masses.
ColorJack – Personally one of my favorite websites to go to for a little inspiration on what is the best combination of color pallets to use on your website. It also has a few variations of it via sphere and galaxy.
Redalt.com – Is a unique wordpress site that has a color analyzer. You submit your website and the analyzer picks up which colors are used in your template and then groups it based on hues , shades of a certain color as well as showing you where the colors come from via css stylesheet.
DaGraeve – This website has a pallets generator that gives you colors based on the pictures you upload. I thought it was very cool and useful if you used the right pictures to upload. Basically the more varied a picture is the better the results will be.
Color Lovers – Is the equivalent of Deviant Art only for color pallets and schemes. It is insane at how dedicated this website is towards website color scheme that it makes you feel like you can do SO much more ! Seriously give this one a look.
Color Schemer – This site is a bit more blunt than Color Jack in the sense that it is simple click and point to get a color pallet. It also gives you colors that would contrast in a scheme.
Kuler – Is an adobe run site that has many many many many , Have I mentioned it has many color schemes to look at submitted by many people ? I forgot to mention that the color schemes that are in the gallery area also tagged with associated

I’m pretty surprised to see orange fair so poorly on all three studies because I absolutely love it.
