It took me a while to get it up and running so I thought to write about it to ease the process for others. Fedora 9 comes with its own “Eclipse” in the packages however when you try to install Flex it will complain about not finding the configuration directory. Here are the Steps you need to have it work.
1) Download Eclipse from here http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.3.2-200802211800/eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-linux-gtk.tar.gz . The one that comes with Fedora will not work
2)Unzip it in any directory of your choosing but keep track of where it is
3) Download the Adobe Flex Builder from here http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flex/flexbuilder_linux/
4) Perferably save it to the Desktop and rename it as Flex, unless you want to type all this in the terminal lexbuilder_linux_install_a3_033108.
5) Open a Terminal
6)write: cd Desktop
7) sh Flex.bin
8 ) It should Launch the Installer, Navigate to where you unzipped the Eclipse Folder
9) After Installation is Done, open that Eclipse and it should work.
Do not use the Standard eclipse that comes with Fedora 9.

I think you mean Flex Builder not Flex.
Thanks for the tip.

That really blows…there’s nothing wrong with Europa. Man Adobe is really falling behind here. Always these feeble attempts into the programming world…They just gotta stick to graphics. sheesh. LOL and the funny thing is I’m a graphics designer and web programmer…I love Adobe and I’m even saying this.
Thanks for your help on this because I installed twice banging my head over it all.

I just tried to follow your instructions but every time I try and fire up Eclipse it crashes with the following:
#
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0×095f2817, pid=7900, tid=3087436064
#
# Java VM: OpenJDK Client VM (1.6.0-b09 mixed mode linux-x86)
# Problematic frame:
# C [UTF-16.so+0x817] gconv+0×327
#
# An error report file with more information is saved as:
# /opt/FlexBuilder/Adobe/hs_err_pid7900.log
#
# If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:
# http://icedtea.classpath.org/bugzilla
# The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code.
# See problematic frame for where to report the bug.
#
./Adobe_Flex_builder.sh: line 93: 7900 Aborted “${ECLIPSE_LOCATION}”/eclipse -vmargs -Xmx512M
Any ideas????
I had a look through that log file but it didn’t really contain anything that useful. Just a stack of stuff like this:
Registers:
EAX=0xbfea9645, EBX=0xa319b1a4, ECX=0xbfea8ef0, EDX=0×03cc3000
ESP=0xbfea8e80, EBP=0xbfea8ea8, ESI=0xbfea8eec, EDI=0xbfea8ee4
EIP=0xa2a1cae4, CR2=0×03cc3000, EFLAGS=0×00210206
Anyway if anyones got any fixes for this that would be awsome.

Do you need a SDK for this one?
